When Mike looked at Sash & Saber SYW figures, he decided to let me do the ACW gun that S&S had included in the samples, as I will be reviewing their ACW range in a couple of months. I was going to look at their ACW figures next month- but I got greedy and I'm buying some SYW instead.

This review is a lead in to the ACW review scheduled in the next couple of months. I was very impressed with the gun and decided to get it on the net immediately, so those looking for some firepower could see what it's like.

SY SashSaber ACW Gun 1

This model is very nicely sculpted and cast, with a restrained woodgrain finish to the carriage and wheels. The gun is a 3" Ordnance Rifle, one of the mainstays of both armies during the war. It comes in the usual parts breakdown of carriage, wheels and barrel. There's a couple of minor omissions on the model- the handles for the elevating screw are missing and the trunnion locks aren't depicted on either the barrel nor the carriage (easily fixed with a bit of tape). However the beautifully depicted prolonge rope and detail on the carriage are very nice.

Have fun.
