Terrain Review:
Simply 6 Buildings

Simply 6 is a new manufacturer of 6 mm resin terrain. The owner Steve Clay offers both painted and unpainted 6 mm resin buildings. Steve recently sent me two samples - a European mill and a middle-eastern house.

Both buildings are sculpted free hand so do not have the precise corners and angles of, say, buildings by Timecast. But they definitely look good. The detail is easy to pick out, and makes sense in this scale. Often there are details that in this scale would not be visible. But I think Steve has done a really nice job of putting in just the right amount. The paint jobs on the samples I received were done in with extensive dry brushing. They look good, if not great. I’m honestly not a huge fan of dry brushing on buildings, so it may just be me.

The Middle Eastern house measures 47 mm at it’s longest point and 31 mm wide, again at the widest part. The mill is 58 mm long from end to end, and roughly 25-30mm wide though it is an irregularly shaped building. Including the mill wheel and measuring the widest part of the model it comes in at 45 mm.

Both are cast in pale gray/off white resin. As I received painted samples I cannot comment on clean up or ease of painting. They are certainly nice little models and will see action with me for sure. Actually my biggest reservation about them is the color fo the mill roof. I guess I’m just too used to seeing red tile - that green just looks wrong to me!

Below you’ll see a number of photos - I threw some Baccus 6mm figures into the shot so you can get a sense of the scale of the pieces.
