Poor Hammer
My gaming club recently started in on 40k. Although I have always known about the game, I had never actually played or collected an army. But now that I'm a few hundred points deep in Tyranids, I started following the Tyranid subreddit. And that led me to the PoorHammer subreddit which provides all sorts of ways to play WarHammer on a (very low) budget. Since I do a lot of DIY in my games I thought I'd share them here.
Most of these also apply to any other game with bespoke miniatures, like Bolt Action, Infinity, or Kings of War.
THE RULES: The idea with most of these ideas is to spend as little money as possible. Use materials gamers likely already own, or that they can pick up for just a few bucks. Some will not be that budget friendly, but will still represent a big cost savings from buying official products.
MY NUMBER ONE SUGGESTION: Drop down from 28mm and Play in 15mm?. You lose some of the spectacle of the minis but you gain a better looking battle overall, and save a ton on the minis themselves.
