Here is an oddity: a line of miniatures in which the best sculpting is done for the worst army. The French soldier was in danger of being devoured by a giant carnivorous shako. Their British soldier only had half a face, and his hands look like King George was recruiting from Rock-en Sock-em Robots. The along comes this Spanish soldier. While he has a bit of the war-smurf in his proportions, he is an otherwise fine figure.

This is a nicely detailed and sculpted figure. All of his equipment is in scale and has the nice touches that make all the difference - ties on the backpack, neat straps, and cuffs and collars that are easy to paint without being grossly over blown.

The uniform was also nicely rendered. The distinction between the facings and sleeves was easy to distinguish (and paint), as were the turnbacks. The musket is well detailed. I think the bayonet may be a bit short, but it is certainly acceptable.

Wildly Inspired have two other things going for them: they have a lot of pictures on their web site, and they sell figures singly. So you can order up a hussar and, if you don’t like it, you don’t have a regiment’s worth of unpainted lead to try and find a home for.
