These samples were provided by Irregular. In an accompanying note, Ian writes:SBS ACW 15 Inf Irreg1

I’m afraid you’ve nicked one of our oldest and smallest ranges. A lot of our ranges are being remodeled, but until then these are the figures. I enclose a sample of FR1, as an example of the newer size!

Small is right - from sole to eye measures a puny 12 mm (or is that a “heroic 10 mm”?) and most other figures dwarf this lad. The FR1 sample measures exactly 15 mm (aka REALLY heroic 10 mm) from sole to eye. It is reviewed on the Napoleonic side-by-side site here.

The first thing I noticed about this figure is that he carries a lot of equipment. Backpack, haversack, cartridge box, bedroll and canteen.  He’s a veritable pack mule compared to his peers!

Dem Bones - The Anatomy: Gray’s would like this figure withSBS ACW 15 Inf Irreg2 two exceptions. First his left arms is shaped like a question mark (perhaps he has a really flexible prosthesis?). Second, the right arm is far too short. Perhaps there’s some really tragic tale here, involving an honest boy from Kentucky and a railroad accident? Seriously, judge for yourself if you think these detract. Otherwise the sculpt is sound. The face is mostly scrambled eggs, but between the hat and the musket you can barely see it anyway.

Everybody Vogue: He’s small, but mighty. The firing pose is good - dynamic with the legs apart, clearly looking over the sight, and hunched just a bit. This pose can be awfully static, but there’s a lot of motion here for the eye.

Do Those Buttons Read USA or USB? The detail is quite good, and does the scale proud. The folds in the pants are deep but flow in the right direction. The musket is fairly basic, but the haversack, backpack and bedroll all have small touches to give them some life. The brim of the hat is a bit bulky and obscures the face.

The Reserves: Other Figures

Like the Rebel above this is a bit of a rough figure.
