I have to admit the very first figure from Lancashire I ever painted nearly put me off the line entirely. But since then the line has grown in my estimation. While today I would only rate what I have seen as average, the British figure I had was clearly just a weak spot in the range. They are a medium size range, this fusilier measuring in at 16.0 mm from foot to eye.

The level of detail here is pretty good. The musket strap, barrel hoops, and flintlock are all accounted for. All of the straps are clear. The bedroll shows the folding quite well, and there’s a nice texture to the backpack. The detail is of a moderate contrast, with straps, cuffs, and turnbacks all raised features, but modestly so. The face is a bit of a smudge with a mustache but workable in this scale.

There is a decent sense of anatomy for the most part, but the legs are malformed.  The right thigh is too thin, the right calf too fat. The left leg is much better. Otherwise all of the limbs and trunk are in good scale to each other, and joints are correctly located.

The pose looks a little off balance, as if he’s leaning toward one side (a little pre-battle nip at work perhaps?).  His stance is a bit hesitant. I’d rather see a more aggressive stride and upright torso. A creditable figure, if not an exceptional one. I’m not sure I want a regiment of this one, but sprinkled in he might add some variety.
