There is an unconfirmed report on a Yahoo! group that Simtac, the manufacturer of Jacobite brand miniatures, has gone out of business. Judging by what I ordered from them, no great loss. (Update May 1, 2005: The Jacobite brand, and other Simtac ranges, have been purchased by Stronghold Miniatures.)

Of the 15 brands I review here, Jacobite are clearly the worst of the bunch. The detail is minimal and confused. This figures face looks more like a plate of scrambled eggs than a human form. Judging by the middle (blurry) photo, he has survived being run over by a steam roller like Wile E. Coyote. He may be flat as a pancake, but otherwise he carries on. His uniform wings are enormous relative to his bayonet. In short, if you are tempted, just say no.

 ‘Nuff said.
