Not having seen any photos of any MJ miniatures, I was pleasantly surprised when I received my order.  The miniatures arrived in fine shape and required almost no clean up of flash or mold lines. I think the figure looks even nicer after being painted up.

The overall proportions are very good. The hands are a touch large, and the face is a bit “pointed” - look at that chin! But the figure has nice detail in the uniform, and I like the pose. Serious, ready to do his duty, without being melodramatic.

I found this figure quite easy to paint. The equipment is nicely rendered and accessible to the paint brush. The sculptor made a nice compromise between fine detail and crispness in the overall figure. The cuffs, for example, have buttons and lace, and the canteen has the strap around the circumference. However, the haversack and canteen straps are not molded on the torso, leaving just the cross-straps to be painted.

One more nice feature - figures may be ordered individually, so may be a great “fill-in” resource if you just need two or three figures to round out the latest unit.
