The Lancashire line is another line that has never impressed me. While this figure raises my opinion somewhat, it is not enough for me to ever recommend them in general.
If I had judged solely based on the British figure, I should never have considered them further. But the evils of that figure are not present here and we have, instead, a mediocre Spaniard. The overall anatomy is not too bad, though the thighs are relatively too short which gives him a spindly look. The left elbow is in the wrong place. Nonetheless the overall effect is of a proportionate figure. The detail is moderate and the sculpting pretty good. The face, for example, is clear and distinct. The turnbacks are raised but not excessively so. The bedroll is pleasantly lopsided.
The down side to this figure is comprised of two interrelated factors. First, that the pose of the figure is awkward - the man is off balance. Second, his lower torso is too large. This creates an overall impression of an ungainly, uncoordinated soldier. Not the kind of man I want to recruit for this man’s army.
