First Impressions: I’m not sure what that is in his left arm, but there is a cord or rope wound around his arm. Otherwise a great face, interesting pose, much more dynamic than than standing horse (though to be fair, my sample request requested standing horses if possible - so perhaps a running horse is more suitable for this officer?). The horse has good proportions, and looks like it will paint up quite nicely - there are some nice contours to help the highlight-impaired (such as your humble narrator).
Dem Bones - The Anatomy: While Peter Pig tend to be a bit on the small size, they have good structure. The elbows and knees are in the right places, and the hands and feet are the right size. The face is a real strength and I like the detail on the hands.
The horse is well proportioned. The head is the right size, which seems to be one common area that gives trouble. While I would never call these horses graceful, they are solid looking animals with strong legs and big rumps.
Everybody Vogue: I’m not sure what this pose is supposed to represent (if you know, please e-mail me). From any normal gaming distance this will look like an officer pointing to his right. The horse looks natural and at ease (must be a veteran, because his rider is clearly excited about something).
Do Those Buttons Read USA or USB? Peter Pig figures tend to have the high-contrast style to their sculpts. Folds in clothing are deep, surfaces substantially raised. While the tack on the horse is only moderately raised, most other details, like the facial hair, clothing and horseflesh are done in high contrast. This makes them easy to paint and highlight, but can be a bit “cartoonish” for some people’s tastes.
