First Impressions: The Heritage line has been out of production for some time, and I don’t know it’s current status. They do turn up in clearance bins from time to time however. My initial look said “average.” Detail is good in some places, and the sculpt is decent, but the horse is not great.
Dem Bones - The Anatomy: The trooper is really pretty good. The legs are long enough, and end in real feet instead of stunted ones. The hands are the right size. The elbows are in the right place. The horse, however, has some issues. The front legs are much too long, especially compared to the rear legs. The hindquarters are also a bit on the small side. However, none of these are really fatal flaws. Once painted it doesn’t look too bad.
Everybody Vogue: The horse looks like he’s in high spirits - I would say he was almost dancing. It gives a nice feel of animation to the overall figure without becoming either cartoonish or looking like a charging horse. I’m not sure its realistic, but it looks nice! The rider looks well seated and his grip on the carbine looks relaxed.
Do Those Buttons Read USA or USB? The figure has a moderate level of detail, but has some size issues witht eh equipment. Those saddle bags don;t look big enough to carry a tuna-fish sandwich, for instance. The hat looks awfully big in the rbim, and the rear blanket is very small. The scabbard is also extremely narrow - almost like a piece of wire. Still, the equipment is clearly sculpted and easy to make sense of.
The Reserves: Other Figures
This figure is almost identical to the one above. Just swap the hat for a kepi, and you’ve got it!
