First Impressions: There is a lot of nice detail - if a bit overstated - on the Peter Pig line. This figure has a really nice face, and some interesting equipment detail. The lead between the sword and the head detracts from the figure a bit (I’m not ready to attempt to carve it out). The horse is not bad, though a bit narrow in the chest and rump. But on the rear blanket is an item that looks like a German WW2 “potato-masher” grenade. Can’t find that in my reference library.
Dem Bones - The Anatomy: The horse is pretty good though I think the legs could use a little work. The joints look a little oversized on some of the legs. The rest of the horse is fine. Though a bit narrow in the chest and rump, the overall impression is a good one. The rider, too, looks sound. While his torso may be a bit small, that could also just be the pose - a little hunched over, perhaps.
Everybody Vogue: The gait of the horse looks good if a bit overexcited to my eyes and the angle of the head shows the speed he’s moving at. The rider looks hunched over which one would expect, I think. Either that or his torso is too small. Still, he’s looking up which provides a nice face to paint.
Do Those Buttons Read USA or USB? Peter Pig put a lot of detail in their figures. The canteen strap, saddle bag straps, carbine and tack are all highly detailed. The bedrolls bunch up as a tied up blanket ought to. Since the detail is of the high-contrast variety they are easy to pick out and highlight.
The Reserves: Other Figures
I don’t think this horse is nearly as good as the one above, but the rest of the figure is of the same character and quality.
