GENERIC RULE SETS
The term “generic” simply means that the rules in question are suitable for an extremely wide array of scales and or time periods.

ANCIENTS RULE SETS
The Ancient period is (arbitrarily) defined as either (a) rules applicable to periods up to and including 1000AD, or (b) rules sets that describe or market themselves as applicable to the “Ancients” period.

|
MEDIEVAL RULE SETS
The Medieval period is (arbitrarily) defined as either (a) rules applicable to periods from 1000AD up to and including 1300AD, or (b) rules sets that describe or market themselves as applicable to the “Medieval” period.

|
RENAISSANCE RULE SETS
The Renaissance period is (arbitrarily) defined as either (a) rules applicable to periods from 1300AD up to and including 1700AD, or (b) rules sets that describe or market themselves as applicable to the “Renaissance” period.

HORSE & MUSKET RULE SETS
The Horse & Musket period is (arbitrarily) defined as either (a) rules applicable to periods from 1700AD up to and including 1860AD, or (b) rules sets that describe or market themselves as applicable to the “Horse & Musket” period. Note that the Napoleonic Wars are separated into their own category. Rules applicable to both will be listed in both categories.

NAPOLEONIC WARS RULE SETS
The Napoleonic Wars period is defined as either (a) rules applicable to the European wars from 1792AD up to and including 1815AD, or (b) rules sets that describe or market themselves as applicable to the “Napoleonic” period. Note that the Napoleonic Wars are a sub-category of the “Horse & Musket” period. Rules applicable to both will be listed in both categories.

The American Civil War period is (arbitrarily) defined as either (a) rules applicable to the American Civil War from 1861AD up to and including 1865AD, or (b) rules sets that describe or market themselves as applicable to the “American Civil War” period.

The First World War period is defined as either (a) rules applicable to the world wars from 1914AD up to and including 1918AD, or (b) rules sets that describe or market themselves as applicable to the “First World War” period.

The Between the Wars period is defined as either (a) rules applicable to conflicts from 1918AD up to and including 1939AD, or (b) rules sets that describe or market themselves as applicable to the “Between the Wars” period.

The Second World War period is defined as either (a) rules applicable to the world wars from 1939AD up to and including 1945AD, or (b) rules sets that describe or market themselves as applicable to the “Second World War” period.
