I think this is a very fine figure with good detail and sound proportions. Poses like this one, in which the arms cross the body, and hence many straps and other uniform detail, can create large areas of scrambled eggs on the torso. The temptation to sculpt in every last strap, button and fold of cloth can become quite a mess. Such is not the case here. The detail is kept very neat.
There are a few details of the figure that I find especially pleasing. The face is very nice and has a good expression. There is a clear attempt to keep details in scale - as illustrated by the fine epaulette fringe, cuffs and cuff flaps, and chin scales. The only area of disappointment in this regard is the musket. There is very little detail here, which is a shame. No flintlock, no distinguishing between stock and barrel, no bayonet detail. I think some additional work here would improve the figure.
